In an age shaped by social media and artificial intelligence, young people have access to more information than ever before. Yet algorithms often recommend content based on popularity and browsing history, creating echo chambers and short attention spans. Reading books, literature, and history offers a more thoughtful way to understand one's language, values, heritage, and cultural identity. This essay invites students to explore how reading can help them think independently, evaluate information critically, and strengthen their connection to Tamil language, culture, and heritage while navigating an increasingly Al-driven and digitally connected world.
